Joseph K. Lewis
Joseph K. Lewis was born December 3, 1953 in St. Joseph, Missouri. Mr. Lewis attended the University of Missouri - Kansas City where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 1976 and Juris Doctorate degree in 1980.
Mr. Lewis’ legal career has been devoted entirely to personal injury litigation and civil trial work. He has tried civil jury cases for over 25 years in nearly every county in northwest and central Missouri as well as northeast Kansas, including the Federal District Courts in Missouri and Kansas.
Mr. Lewis began his legal career in 1980 in Kansas City, Missouri with the Morris & Foust law firm where he represented plaintiff’s in various catastrophic personal injury cases. For 20 years, beginning in 1984, Mr. Lewis was a partner in the Herron & Lewis law firm where he continued his plaintiff’s practice representing seriously injured parties primarily in products liability claims, workers compensation matters, and medical malpractice cases involving nearly every medical specialty and sub-specialty including obstetrics & gynecology, neurosurgery, cardiology, cardio-vascular surgery, general surgery, orthopedic surgery, emergency medicine, radiology, nuclear medicine, oncology, gastro-intestinal medicine, anesthesiology, nursing home liability and chiropractic medicine. Mr. Lewis also defended various insurance companies and their insureds in a wide range of liability defense claims including personal injury auto, premises liability, products liability, and toxic torts cases.
In 2005 Mr. Lewis joined the Montee law firm’s litigation team. He is licensed to practice in the State and Federal Courts of Missouri as well as the Eighth Circuit United States Court of Appeals. Mr. Lewis is currently a member of the Missouri Bar Association and Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association.
